The Guardians of the Styx is a voluntary community group incorporated under the Incorporated Charitable Trust Act 1957.
The Guardians of the Styx have three objectives:
- To promote the protection, restoration and raised awareness of the values of the Styx River and its environs.
- To act as a lobby group on behalf of local residents and groups concerned with the Styx River and its environs.
- To liase with Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury, and other agencies or authorities on matters pertaining to the Styx River and its environs
Meetings of the Guardians of the Styx take place on the 2nd Thursday of each month (excluding December and January) commencing at 7.30pm. The venue is usually the Papanui Service Centre and attendance is free.
Membership is open to any person within the community who concurs with the aims of the group.
