Why Partner With Us?

The Styx Living Laboratory Trust is a local river care group that has been running since 2001.

Our mahi is to restore the Pūharakekebui/Styx river corridor as “a place of wilderness and peace” - to create an urban wilderness from source to sea. This is both a responsibility and an opportunity - to protect a defining landscape that sets the Pūharakekenui apart locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Trust delivers tangible impacts alongside community, corporates, and government. We’re actively seeking to build meaningful partnerships that deliver results we can be proud of. We are excited to explore the possibility of a sponsorship with you, giving you the opportunity to align with one of the region’s most impactful environmental charities.

Testimonials

“Our partnership with the Styx Living Laboratory Trust has become one of the most rewarding parts of our sustainability journey at CCEP New Zealand. The SLLT team bring deep expertise, genuine passion, and a real sense of care to everything they do — and they’re an absolute pleasure to work with.

Together, we’ve seen our site transform from open pasture into a thriving and diverse habitat. Under SLLT’s leadership, almost 20,000 native plants have been established, long‑term water‑quality monitoring is now in place, and the groundwork has been laid for the return of several native species. Their guidance ensures every step aligns with local ecology, iwi aspirations, and the wider vision for the Pūharakekenui–Styx catchment.

What we value most is the trust and camaraderie built along the way. Whether planting trees in the rain, installing monitoring gear, or planning the next phase of restoration, the SLLT team bring enthusiasm, knowledge, and a sense of purpose that lifts everyone involved. They’re not just partners — they’re part of our whānau.

We’re incredibly proud to support the Styx Living Laboratory Trust and excited about the future we’re creating together for this special part of Ōtautahi.” - Jamie Corkill, Sustainability Advisor, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners New Zealand

"When we launched Treehugger Pilsner in November 2022, we knew we wanted partner with a project that felt personal.

Our founders, Pete and Ian, are Christchurch locals who grew up playing the "spot the native tree" game on family trips - a game that, frankly, was far too slow for far too long. Today, we get almost all of the grain for our beers through our mates at Gladfield Malt in Dunsandel. Partnering with the Styx Living Laboratory Project has allowed us to support a region we are deeply connected to.

What we love most about having SLLT as partners is the transparency: our funding goes directly to the Trees for Canterbury nursery, where seedlings are grown before being handed to the wonderful volunteers for Styx. It's amazing to see immediately the positive impact, the direct through-line from our contribution to results for the local environment.

Often, conservation contributions touted by a product, like can of beer, can feel hard to connect to and the impact intangible. With every four six-packs of Treehugger sold, a high-quality native tree goes into the ground in Canterbury. That gives us - and our customers - confidence that we’re helping that native tree count for the next generation."
