Community Coordinator Position
The Styx Living Laboratory Trust are seeking a great all-rounder to be our new community coordinator. You will work within the Styx Pūharakekenui Catchment as part of a five-year Freshwater Improvement Fund project that finishes on 30 June 2026. The Trust is a local rivercare group working to improve the health of the awa alongside our local community.
The role requires a person with great interpersonal skills as you will be the first point of contact many people have with the Trust. You will recruit and support our volunteers and help with development of their projects, including running some volunteer events. Our ideal candidate will be able to keep our website up to date and run our social media accounts, as well as assist the Trust with fundraising to continue our mahi. You will initiate and maintain relationships with businesses and stakeholders and facilitate community participation, including arranging education events with schools. You will have sound ecological knowledge, proven administration skills and knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.
The hours of work are 32 hours undertaken between Monday to Friday. There is some flexibility for working from home. A position description is available on request. Applications close 8am Wednesday November 26th and can be made through SEEK.
Summer Student Scholarships.
As part of its ongoing research programme the Styx Living Laboratory Trust endeavours to offer an annual scholarship to a tertiary student(s) to enable them to undertake a research project within the Styx catchment over the summer holiday period.
Previously , this summer scholarship has been offered in partnership with Lincoln University and the Shirley Papanui Community Board, Christchurch City Council. Since 2016 the Scholarship has been funded by the Styx Living Laboratory Trust.
